One Week

It's amazing how SO MUCH can happen in so little time.

So this past weekend we officially moved in. That was a long haul... And for the most part we have everything where it should be (desregard the fact that it might still be in the box). Long story short, the apartment is liveable and babyproofed; that is the most important part, especially with an 11 month old.

But alas, after all of the moving we all were struck down with the stomach flu... started with Gabriel, then to James, and then to me, and last but not least, the sitter. I missed two and a half days this week and am right now trying to make up some of the time.

And, the best and probably scariest part of all, GABRIEL STARTED WALKING. He just took off from the couch on Monday and took a good three steps before falling down. Now he is consistantly taking about 5 - 7 steps before losing his balance. I give him two weeks before we're running after him.

Exhausted

Ugh, I'm exhausted. We didn't get everything finished at the apartment but we did get quite a bit done. The bathroom is completely done and I even moved the washer and dryer and cleaned the floor underneath them. I don't think it's ever been clean... The floor was black when it was supposed to be white. We also wiped down all of the wall shelf things that are in every bedroom and living room (I don't know how else to describe it) and James did everything in the kitchen; counters up & the refrigerator.

We still have a lot more to do by this weekend. We need to finish the kitchen and shampoo the carpets. Also, we need to get Wrigley's dog run up and the baby gates up and I had planned to do those today too, but I'm glad I didn't because we wouldn't be able to put the furniture in if the gates were put in place.

I also found out that the upstairs neighbor is really cool. He has a wife and two kids and probably the coolest dog. We have crossed paths with the other upstairs neighbor, but haven't formally met. They also have small children.

So this Saturday is the day that we'll officially move in. I'm ecstatic.

Cleaning...

So a real quick rundown of yesterday...

We arrived at the apartment around 11:00 a.m. and the place really wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Don't get me wrong, it needs a good deep cleaning but the previous tenants didn't leave as much trash around as I thought they would. And to top it off we get a free table and chairs which is a really big help right now for us.

To make a long story short we have the keys. The apartment is as of yesterday OURS!

The next plan is to clean it and then hopefully next weekend get everything moved. I'm so excited you couldn't even imagine. So now I'm just trying to prepare myself for the day of hard cleaning. It will be exhausting but I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result.

We got the apartment!!

Apartment Hunting

You know, I don't think the term "apartment hunting" could be anymore correct. It is like a grand hunt and we right now have the target in sight. Not only do we have the target in sight but we have the gun up to the animal's head and now just waiting to pull the trigger.

I will say that as perfect as this apartment will be I'm growing ever more frustrated with the landlord. Almost every time that we attempt to make contact we just get her voicemail and she's horrible at calling back. I understand that the apartment that we want is a disaster because of the way the last tenants left it, but the thing is we don't mind helping to get it put back together. There is a lot of work to be done and I want to help. Truthfully it's much more worth my while to have a couple hundred bucks knocked off the first months rent so I can clean the place MY WAY. And cleaning it would be so easy because there would be no "stuff" in the way.

My only other worry is Wrigley... there is a nice acre fenced in at the apartment, however there is a large gate for a vehicle and it doesn't look like it's been shut in years. Also with it being a triplex and a "community" yard, I worry about leaving Wrigley to run unattended especially if strangers come into the yard for the other tenants. And it's not that I think he will hurt anybody strange coming in, rather I worry about somebody leaving the gate open and then our dog runs out and gets hit on the highway. The easy solution is to just set up one of those runs that you tie out between two trees.

Anyway, those are my thoughts for the day on my apartment.

On a total side note, I also want to move in ASAP so I can find my drawing tablet. I miss it so much... but it's packed away in the abyss of our storage unit. I swear there's an entire galaxy in that thing with a black hole.

King Kong vs. Gozilla!!!

The title says it all...

This is how I spent my Columbus day; letting the most anticipated battle of the century be duked out by none other than Gabriel and Jacob. Of course, Gabriel i.e. Godzilla is my baby and Jacob i.e. King Kong is my coworker's baby who is only a month older than Gabriel.

The First Annual Upload

Okay, and let's try one more thing tonight...

The First Annual Post

I'm pretty much just making this post so I can get a gist of the layout for my blog. I'm hoping to use this blog for anything and everything. Eventually I would like to be able to add photos onto here and I would really like to start adding my artwork. But until then... all you get is this measly little blog that really says nothing important. =>

Although I am really irritated at the lag time while I type. And the fact that my misspellings are not being picked up by my auto spell check.
